Cheltenham
Winners
'Montelado'.
was only horse to win back to back races at Cheltenham when
he won the 1st Cheltenham Tote Festival Bumper by 12 lengths,
23 ran, the last race of the meeting in 1992. He returned
the following year to win the first race, a hotly contested
Trafalgar House Supreme Novices Hurdle by a similar margin,
setting a new course record by winning in the fastest time
for over 80 years.
3rd
Cheltenham winner was 'French Ballerina', by
Sadlers Wells, owned by Mrs Sue Magnier. She gave an unforgettable
display of hurdling, class and speed to win the Citroen Supreme
Novices Hurdle eased down by 7 lengths, the only filly in
a field of 30 top novices.
